Dr. Serge Wright graduated Magna Cum Laude from Southern California College of Optometry and has been providing medical and family eye care in Sedona for 48 years. Dr. Wright is certified in the diagnosis and treatment of eye disease and provides nutrition counseling for the prevention of eye disease and the enhancement of visual function.
Today, Sedona Eye Care has evolved in to one of Arizona’s most technologically advanced eye centers. Under Dr. Wright leadership, Sedona Eye Care has become known as a Dry Eye Center of Excellence. One of Dr. Wright's proudest moments in his profession life was when his daughter Dr. Kendra Ivy joined him in practice in June of 2018.
Sedona Eye Care includes a visiting cataract surgeon that provides surgery in Sedona's only surgery center; as well as retinal specialist providing laser retinal surgery, diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration treatment.
Dr. Wright was awarded Arizona's Optometrist of the Year by his peers. Also, he has been presented the Melvin Jones Fellow Award, Lions Club highest humanitarian honor. Serge joined the Sedona Lions at the same time he opened his practice and is still a member today. He served as Lion's president five times in 1977, 1987, 1997, 2007, 2017 and he ask not to be reelected until 2027. His current involvement with the Lions includes coordinating donations of new and recycled glasses for mission trips.
Serge served on the committee that formed the Sedona Oak Creek School District and served as the liaison to the AZ legislature. Serge joined Sedona 30 in 1997 and currently serves as President. He served on the Sedona Chamber of Commerce Board from 1980 to 1982. He received the Good Morning Sedona award for Outstanding Contribution to the community of Sedona. Also, he was made an honorary member of Sedona Bell Rock Kiwanis for community service.
Dr. Wright served on the Board of Directors for VSP, the nation largest vision care insurance, from 2000 to 2004, and since 2005 has served as VSP’s Arizona Representative and Ambassador. Also, he was a member of the Board of the AZ. Optometric Association. Serge and Kathy, his wife of 49 years have three married children and four grandkids. He continues his care of patients at Sedona Eye Care and isn’t planning on retiring any time soon.
